January 30, 2024 and the lies of the MCAO that forced us to question everything...

ree

For most of 2023, I was reeling and in a constant state of shock. I knew that the justice system was slow and was trying to be patient. Just 2 months after Aidan was taken from us, my beautiful, healthy daughter (who is an amazing single-mother of 3) was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I had to put every ounce of clarity and energy I had into helping her and my grandchildren (who were already insanely grief-stricken from losing Aidan). My family was now free-falling, and worrying about the legal process was far down the list of things that we were worried about during this time, so we just focused on what was in front of us at the time, despite our grief being amplified by the reality that Aidan's killer was free and traveling the country from racetrack to racetrack as a horse trainer. By 2024, Alexis was cancer-free despite recovering from multiple surgeries, but I was in a full-on mental breakdown and living in a pit of grief and despair, incapable of taking care of much, including myself, so my contact with MCAO was sporadic.

Then, in September, Aidan's father and I had a conference call with Tom (the Maricopa County who was the head of vehicular crimes as well as 2 others). Tom went on to explain to us that these types of cases usually come down to the wire and they wanted to make sure every I was dotted and T crossed which made sense until he all of a sudden started talking about a witness ( the person driving the SUV next to Aidan when he was struck) now saying that the SUV may have been blocking TW's view of Aidan when he pulled out suddenly, drunk on to 19th Ave killing Aidan... This was the first mention of this. Ever. The good news was that he was still intoxicated with multiple substances and caused a fatality while driving an unregistered (or so TW said), uninsured (or so TW said) vehicle that wasn't even his so typically causing a fatality while committing multiple crimes in itself is a problem. Right? Not according to the Maricopa County Attorney! Instead they lied to us. They said that they had a little over 4 months to make sure that the manslaughter case was air tight and then, of course, he would be charged with the other blatant crimes.

Finally, the week of the anniversary (of Aidan's death) We were told that Aidan's case was being sent to "the state"because they had better resources and would be able to extradite TW from Oregon... But that was just another lie...

Love hard, work hard, play hard...
